if you have ever read “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch, you will remember the part where his mom lets him paint his favorite dreams, sayings and pictures all over his room. i love that part. i love it not because his mom appeared incredibly cool to let him do such a thing, but that he was the kind of kid who actually wanted to do it.
i have such kids. i am grateful for their constant desire to want to paint, draw, craft and build on almost any surface and with any medium. i am grateful and exhausted at the same time…..
our old chalkboard “organizer” fell down last week and broke (most likely because i put it up with a lick and a promise).
in my search for another chalkboard, my daughter suggested that we just paint the entire wall so that they would have much more room to “decorate”. it’s been done before….every crafty mom worth their weight in gold paint has one right? so we took the plunge and gave everyone an entire wall to write on.
“Anybody out there who is a parent, if your kids want to paint their bedrooms, as a favor to me, let them do it. It’ll be OK. Don’t worry about resale value of the house.” –Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture.
here’s to you Randy……..
and here’s to my children….
